2011 Conference
Books for All Conference March 18th 2011, Stirling Management Centre
Learning and Teaching Scotland, in partnership with CALL Scotland, are holding a conference on accessible curriculum resources for learners with print disabilities. The day is for teachers, practitioners and managers and will provide an opportunity to learn about why accessible alternative formats are required, where to find them, how to use them, and how to create them. The day will feature contributions from Scottish Government, HMIe, the Copyright Licensing Agency, publishers, RNIB, LTS, CALL as well as practitioners.
It is now five years since we held a Symposium on Accessible Curriculum Resources which led directly to our work on: the Books for All Report; licensing of the Scottish Voice; changes in copyright licensing; work with LTS on the Books for All Scotland Database; the agreements with Hodder and TeeJay; and development of Books for All CPD. Much has been achieved, but much remains to be done to ensure that all print disabled pupils can obtain curriculum materials in a format accessible to them. This conference will review progress and provision to date and more importantly, help develop a strategy for the future.
