The Bookbug books are provided in four different formats

• PowerPoint narrated. A PowerPoint of the book, with a recording of one of the CALL team reading the book. Use this if you want to read through each page reading at your own pace. You'll need to have PowerPoint on your device: it's available for Windows, iOS, Android and Chromebook.
• PowerPoint Switch Prompt. A PowerPoint of the book with recording and each page is separated by a 'switch prompt' slide - the page turns when the child presses the switch, Spacebar, mouse left button, or touches the screen.
• Keynote. A Keynote version, with switch prompt, for iPads and Macs.
• Grid. Grid is a communication and computer control app for Windows and iPads and it can be accessed using lots of different methods including, for example, switches and eye-gaze. The Bookbug grids are designed mainly for children who use eye gaze and they give you the book plus also communication buttons for children to take part in reading; interactive literacy and communication activities; and links to the authors reading the books on YouTube.

Please note:

• You cannot pass these books on to learners unless they have a Print Disability.
• The learner for whom you are downloading the Accessible Copy must have lawful access to a paper copy: this is a legal requirement.

Bookbug Primary 1 Books (2023) - where you can buy eBook versions

If a commercial eBook copy of the book is available and it is accessible to your learner, you should buy it instead of downloading one from the Database. For some learners, you may find that a Kindle or eBook is actually more accessible:

• A learner who requires a larger font can increase the text size and the page will 're-flow' to fit the screen, unlike zooming on a PDF where you end up scrolling and swiping.
• Learners who use Grid with eye gaze can often access eBook readers more effectively than they can access Adobe Reader. 
• Most of the eBooks reader apps now have their own computer reader built-in or you can use the devices own built-in reading tools.
