Training
'Books for All' courses offer hands-on, practical courses in creating accessible learning resources in a variety of formats. As well as courses in Edinburgh at CALL Scotland, we can also deliver the CPD in your school or local authority. Contact us for details.
We offer a range of Books for All courses:
Free awareness-raising sessions for practitiioners and policy-makers in your local authority. These sessions are to help your local authority plan and develop provision of materials in accessible formats. The sessions are funded through CALL's grant from the Scottish Government, so there is no cost to your authority or school.
One-day, half-day and twilight courses in CALL, or in your school or local authority, where staff will learn how to source, use and make curriculum resources in accessible formats.
Two and four day courses for staff who are producing resources in accessible formats. These are comprehensive CPD opportunities covering: accessibility of digital formats; sourcing files; scanning books; copyright; file standards; creating files in Intermediate Format; converting Intermediate Format to different accessible formats (PDF, Word, Daisy, audio, Powerpoint, Clicker etc); audio resources; interactive materials; iPads and hand-held devices; contributing resources to the Books for All Database.
